Another Victory For Patrizicorse And Ricciardo Kart At Rd3 Of The Australian Kart Champiosnhips

Patrizicorse scored it’s sixth victory in the last eight Australian Kart Championship contested events, with Lochie Hughes taking a dominant KA2 final by more than five seconds. Other highlights were pole position awards in X30, KA1 and KA2 as well as a third position in KZ2 by a mere 0.04 of a second.

KA2:
Lochie Hughes again showed the superior chassis performance of our Birel ART manufactured Ricciardo Kart DR01-B DD by dominating the KA2 final on the Dunlop DFM tyre, winning by a margin of more than five seconds. The result at RD3 of the Australian Championship adds to his four second victory at RD1 and fastest lap (sixth place finish after being dead last after lap one) in RD2.

At RD3 we welcomed three new drivers into our team; Travis Worton, Kade Vink and Bianca Bustamante, who travelled from the Philippines. All three drivers showed lots of potential over the weekend with top lap times, however bad luck and a bit of inexperience robbed them of a top shelf finish.

KZ2:
Hard luck was the story of the weekend for championship leader Troy Loeskow, with three DNF finishes out of the four heat races. A great final recovery from position 30 to position eight, as well as setting the fastest lap time has kept him well in the championship hunt, now trailing by four points. Chris Hays showed his experience running consistently through all heat races, however a broken chain eliminated him from the final whilst competing for the podium positions.

KA1:
After pole position and some unlucky heat races, Jace Matthews was able to savour a sixth place finish in the final and keep his championship lead aboard his CXR Race Engines Ricciardo Kart DR01-B DD chassis.

X30:
Marijn Kremers took pole position in the 40-strong field with fellow teammates not far behind, with Patrizicorse Birel ART/Ricciardo kart drivers finishing qualifying in first, third, fourth, 18th, 19th and 22nd. Championship leader Marc Tulloch was hampered by track position in qualifying. The heat races saw mixed results with Jace Matthews, Dylan Drysdale and Marijn Kremers all taking results inside the top three on a consistent basis. The final was a pressure cooker with Matthews starting on the first row, Kremers the third and Drysdale the fifth. Matthews was to go on a take a fifth place finish, Kremers tenth, Drysdale 21st (8th before bumper penalty), Cullinane 23rd and Ben Stewart DNF.

KA4 Junior:
Declan Matthews our sole competitor in KA4 Junior. Declan showed great speed all weekend starting the final out of position six and finishing an eventual eighth place in the 40-kart strong field.

KA12:
Kaden Probst, Luke Thompson and Luca Nici all put on a great show aboard their Ricciardo Kart and Birel ART Chassis. Thompson crossed the line in position 28 after running as high as 14, Luca Nici was in the top end of the top ten before contact forced him to exit the circuit finishing position 26, and Kaden Probst put on a stellar performance moving from the back row of the 40-kart field to position 22.

The next event for Patrizicorse will be RD4 of the Rotax Pro Tour held at Coffs Harbour Circuit.
